Dogo Argentino

The large, muscular Dogo Argentino was bred for strength and big-game hunting, particularly hunting wild boars.
Despite its ability to be aggressive when hunting, the Dogo Argentino has a generally happy disposition and is fiercely loyal to its human family.
The strength of this breed necessitates a firm, active trainer capable of keeping large dogs in line, as well as strict boundaries.

A tall, strong yard fence is required, or else the Dogo Argentino's prey drive will lead them to chase small animals or wander.

Socialization with other humans and pets is also important for tempering the Dogo Argentino's natural fear of strangers and other animals.

Dogo Argentinos must be kept active or they will become bored and destructive.

They must not be left alone for extended periods of time.

Playing in the backyard, preferably fenced in, or going for walks several times a day are two options for exercise.
Indoor activities such as hide-and-seek, chasing a ball rolled across the floor, or teaching them new tricks can also provide exercise.
Outdoor activities such as swimming, hiking, retrieving balls, or flying discs can be a good way to burn off excess energy.
Training for dog sports such as agility, obedience, and rally can also be a great way to exercise your dog.

The Dogo Argentino is a loyal breed with a strong territorial instinct, making them excellent watchdogs.
They are fierce protectors of their human families, including children, despite the fact that their strong prey drive makes them poor companions for other animals such as cats or smaller dogs. That prey drive, on the other hand, makes them excellent hunters, capable of taking down wild boars with ferocity and strength.

They are independent dogs who require an experienced owner to handle their training needs, particularly socialisation,

as the Dogo Argentino is known for being unfriendly to strangers and other dogs.

They are strong-willed and require a lot of exercise and mental stimulation, so apartment living isn't for them.
It is best to start training them as puppies.

Depending on the size of your adult dog, you will want to feed them a formula that will cater to their unique digestive needs throughout their life.
Breed-specific formulas are available from many dog food companies for small, medium, large, and giant breeds.
The Dogo Argentino is a large breed.
It is up to you to decide what you feed your dog, but working with your veterinarian and/or breeder is the best way to determine the frequency of meals as a puppy and the best adult diet to increase his longevity.
At all times, clean, fresh water should be available.

Aside from regular weekly grooming, a bath every now and then will keep your dog clean and looking their best.
Grooming your pet can be a wonderful bonding experience for both of you.
To avoid overgrowth, splitting, and cracking, their strong, fast-growing nails should be trimmed on a regular basis with a nail clipper or grinder.
Their ears should be checked on a regular basis to avoid wax and debris buildup, which can lead to infection.
Teeth should be brushed on a regular basis.
